Our regular fleet checks form the basis of any repair and maintenance work we do for our customers, which in turn ensures they get the most out of their investment in the tyres on their vehicles.
At APT, we only aim to replace a tyre when it is absolutely necessary to do so.
As such, we carry out a number of different repair & maintenance procedures to help get the most out of your tyres:
- Turns On The Rim
A tyre which is wearing unevenly can often be turned on the rim in order to correct the problem, and make use of any additional tread on one shoulder.
- Tyre Recuts
Certain tyres are suitable for recutting, as long as there is enough tread remaining. This adds approximately an additional 3mm of tread to the tyre, giving the user valuable extra miles.
- Tyre Re-positioning
Moving tyres from one suitable position to another on a vehicle, for example from the rear to the centre axle of a trailer, or a front steer to a lift axle, can help to extend tyre life.
- COP Fitting
When a tyre is removed for re-positioning, but there is no suitable tyre for it to be swapped with, we hold it for our customer until it can be utilised on the fleet at a later date.
- Minor & Major Repairs
When suitable, we will seek to apply repairs to a damaged tyre so that it can continue to be used on a customer’s fleet. We also work providers who can provide a major repairs service where necessary. The tyre will then be held for re-use on the fleet at a later date.
